I closed my eyes, held my breath and pulled the trigger. Close, hold, pull. Close, hold, pull. Close, hold, pull. I repeated this process in my mind. One by one my enemies fell down on the battlefield. I looked around the area, a land mass of destruction and death. How did it end up like this? Why did it start? Will we lose or win?

We ended WW3, but now only exactly a year later. September 3, 2023…we started WW4. A war more different than the others. A war fought for the same reason as the many others in history. For freedom. For equal rights. For each other. What's different about this war is that it's not country versus country. But…it's children and teens versus the adults and elders. It's a known fact that we, the younger generations, are losing, and badly at that. We know it's no use to fight back, but we are determined to win. We are much weaker and do not have much knowledge about war, yet can't the adults understand? We are the future and they…are only the past.

"This battle is only over for now." I mumbled and stood up from my hiding spot. I slowly walked to the middle of the land and forced a flag with the New Generation insignia into the blood soaked soil. What was funny about it was that it was just a plain white flag with a smiley face on it. We're kids, what would you expect?  I sighed and stood my ground. "Hey! You old geezers! The battle for Canada is over! We win this one…go back to South America." I took another breath and firmly spoke. "I, Joe Winston, declare that we, the Novellus, have won the rights over North America." All the Novellus soldiers cheered in victory and I grinned even though it was a short lived one. A Presbyter soldier from the Old Generation scowled in anger, but left the battlefield back to their territory.

"The war is not over yet child. We adults will win and regain our control over you little monsters." The Presbyter shouted in our direction and left, never turning back around. It was silent until every single Presbyter left the area. We all busted out laughing and crying. Comments of thanks and triumph flowed through the crowd. Our second victory since this war started and it felt satisfying to know that children like us could even defy the strength and wisdom of the elders.
Ok this is only a preview and might only become a short story if I can't find any inspiration to finish this. I did decide that I would actually do some good ol' trying my best but man. Trying is HARD. Any who~ hope you guys will enjoy the preview might turn short story.
